Mommy Projects - Enfamil Tubs

For any mommy whose child is on formula, you know how quickly you can acquire an abundance of formula tubs and cans.  It always seems like a waste to throw these out, so I went online one day to see if there were any ideas to re-purpose them in fun ways.  One thing that I found was to use them as storage containers, and I began to think about how else I could use them.  I realized that it would be fun to use them as cookie containers for Christmas!  I always make cookies for all the hubby's relatives on Christmas Eve, so I thought this would be a cute and inexpensive idea :-)  So for any of you who would like to know how I did it, here ya go:

Supplies:
Enfamil Tubs/Cans
Scrapbook Paper
Mod Podge
Spray Paint
Printable Labels

So here are the tubs in their original form:

After peeling off the seal stickers, I removed each of the lids.  I then cut scrapbook paper to fit the tubs, and used Mod Podge to glue the paper onto the tub. I had the hubby spray paint each of the lids in a bright red, and let the lids sit for a few days to air out the spray paint smell.  Since each lid says "Enfamil" on the top, I used scrapbook to cover it up and made printable labels to go on top of the scrapbook paper with "Merry Christmas" sayings on each one.  I then used a shimmery black ribbon with wire, and cut it to fit around the tubs and made bows around each tub.

This project really didn't take that long and it was a fun way to personalize cute "cookie containers" for Christmas!  I'm sure there are plenty of other uses for these tubs - just have to be creative!

Caiden's 4 Month Birthday!

Today is Caiden's 4 Month Birthday!! I'm sure many people find it silly to count birthdays in months, but each month with a baby brings about so many new milestones and adventures.  We still can't believe that it has been 4 months since Caiden was born.  It feels like yesterday that he would lay on our chest in a tiny little ball, and now he's not so tiny at all! Tomorrow is his 4 month doctors appointment.  Although we are sad that he needs to get shots (he'll be getting lots of kisses from Mommy & Daddy), we are also excited for his appointment to find out how much he weighs and how tall he is now.  At his two month appointment, he was in the 91 percentile for height and 67 percentile for weight...I wonder how much that has changed!  He is currently wearing all 6 month clothing and already starting to outgrow them! I'm not sure where he is getting his height from - we all know it isn't from his Mom!  Here are a few pics that we took today while Caiden was hanging out and celebrating his 4 month birthday.

I think Daddy hung it a little high because
he is definitely over 24" now!

We always get a kick out of watching him
try to get the football in his mouth!

He was very sad at the Ravens
loss yesterday :-(

Happy 4 Months Caiden!!

Visit to Granddad's in Bethany

So this weekend Freddie, Caiden, my brother and I went to visit my dad in Bethany.  It has been a tradition since we were little kids to decorate the tree together every year.  Even though we are all grown up now, my brother and I still make a point to keep this tradition alive by going down for the weekend to decorate the tree with Dad.  This year was especially fun because Caiden was able to join in on the fun.  We brought Freddie into this tradition years ago, and now it's Caiden's turn!  Although he had no idea what was really going on, he still loved to stare at all the lights on the tree.  He even got his own ornament from Granddad that said "Caiden's First Christmas" - adorable!

We also enjoyed celebrating Freddie and I's 29th birthdays!  We went out to dinner at a delicious little mexican restaurant, The Cactus Cafe, and enjoyed some yummy food and margaritas! We then went home and dad surprised us with birthday cake and presents.  It was a great weekend with family and got us excited for the upcoming Christmas holiday!

Grandma's Birthday

Today would have been my Mom's 64th birthday.  She is probably looking down on me and wanting to smack me right now for revealing her age....but as we all know, you never would have guessed because she maintained such a beautiful and youthful appearance!

We have a picture of my Mom in our family room and I show her picture to Caiden often.  It hurts to know that he will never get to know her and see what an amazing grandmother she would be.  I told him today that it was his grandma's birthday and that I know she was looking down and absolutely tickled pink to watch the birth and day-to-day changes of her grandson.  She always LOVED babies.  I remember always being embarrassed in public because she would go up to random strangers just to say hi to their babies.  She would have just flourished in being a grandmother!  I hope that I can keep her memory alive in order for Caiden to at least know the type of wonderful and loving person she was, and that he knows that she will always be looking down on him with so much love and admiration <3

We miss you Mom!

Welcome!

So I had toyed around with the idea of starting a blog about Caiden, but figured that I probably wouldn't keep it updated (I attempted a wedding planning blog and that didn't turn out too well).  But Freddie thought that it would be a good idea to start a blog so that our families and friends who aren't on Facebook could see pictures and keep up as Caiden continues to grow and learn new things every day.  With that being said, I guess I have a little catching up to do now that he is already 3 1/2 months old.  So here are a few pics from the past 3 months!
